Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Telenor and Zong face new restriction

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made biometric verification mandatory for all new SIMs from all telecom operators.

In its new directives, PTA has asked all leading telecoms including Mobilink, Ufone, Telenor, Warid and Zong not to issue SIM without biometric verification.

Every retail and SIM selling point will have to install biometric system at the earliest, PTA further said.

User, who is willing to have new SIM, has to pay an additional Rs. 28 for the verification purpose.

The biometric system will use system of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) to verify credential of the applicant.
